William M.W. Cochran correspondence, 1852-1857.

Collection chiefly consists of letters from J. T. Marye of Port Gibson, Miss. and A. & J. Dennistoun & Co., commission merchants, of New Orleans, La. Letters are requests for Cochran's assistance with matters relating to real estate inspection and possible purchase as well as mortgage and property tax collection and payment. Land involved was located in Natchez, Port Gibson, and Yazoo Tallahatchie, and Yalabousha counties. One letter also mentions A. & J. Dennistoun's economic problems during the Panic of 1857. Other correspondents include E. T. Bainbridge, J. P. Bailey, Margaret Campbell, George M. Barnes, T. J. Adler, William S. Powell, A. B. Betts, and William L. Balfour.
